Following a rigorous selection process which tested both the theory and practical skills of Lothian’s drivers – five finalists are set to attend the 2018 UK Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) competition in Blackpool in September.
The top five – Scott Crosbie, Stephen McLeod, Adam Stitt, David Miller and William Blakey – beat off competition from 11 others in a series of challenging tests, having made it through to the final rounds of Lothian’s Driver of The Year competition from an original 280 applicants.
Drivers completed a theory exam, obstacle course, and a bus safety check in addition to being put under pressure in a live on-the-road driving test.
Richard Hall, Lothian MD, says: “To be selected to represent our company at the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition is a huge honour and our five finalists should be extremely proud to have got to this stage.”
“Our fingers are crossed for each of our five finalists and we hope we can welcome the title of UK Bus Driver of the Year back to Edinburgh later this year.”
