Lothian has chosen five of its best drivers as finalists to attend the 2017 UK Bus Driver of the Year competition, after a grueling selection process testing both theory and practical skills.
The successful drivers beat off competition from 10 others in a series of tests, having been whittled down from an initial 350 entries.
Participants were challenged with demonstrating their knowledge and skills by completing a theory exam, obstacle course, a bus safety check as well as a live on-the-road driving test.
Drivers Adam Stitt, Stephen McLeod, Scott Crosbie, David Swaney, and Colin Vanbeck from Ormiston now go forward to compete against over 100 other drivers from across the UK.
The final stages of the national competition, which is regarded as the premier skills competition in the bus industry, takes place this September in Blackpool.
Richard Hall, Managing Director from Lothian said: “Our drivers do a great job day in, day out providing a high quality, reliable service for our customers.
“To be able to present five competitors to the final heats of the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition is a true reflection of the skill and dedication we have within our driving team.”
