Engineering Development Manager and joint winner of the 2019 routeone Rising Star Award Katie McGrath has made it to the final of the 2020 Amazon Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards, National Express (NatEx) has revealed.
Katie is competing in the Above and Beyond category after joining NatEx’s graduate scheme in 2016. routeone covered her journey to becoming Engineering Development Manager last year and how it was her own initiative that took her to becoming Engineering Development Manager in 2018. In the process, she has helped to reduce breakdowns 10% year on year.
Engineering Director at National Express, Bernie Cassidy, says: “Katie is a great role model for women in engineering – she’s always happy to encourage female STEM students. For International Women’s Day in March 2019, she went to Birmingham’s South and City College to talk about what it’s like to work in the bus industry. The students there found her inspiring and engaging.”
The Amazon Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards showcase the positions held by women in the industry. The West Midlands is further represented by Anne Shaw, Assistant Director of Network Resilience at Transport for West Midlands, and Laura Shoaf, Managing Director of Transport for West Midlands, both finalists in Leader categories.
