Chris Wales, former Chief Executive of the Coach Tourism Association and President of the Coach Drivers’ Club, has died after a short battle with cancer, aged 71.
Chris spent the majority of his corporate career in the car ferry industry, beginning at Townsend Thoresen before spells with Stena Line, Eurotunnel and Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries.
A well-known face within the travel industry, Chris was behind many initiatives that promoted coach travel and was a founding member of the Association of British Tour Operators to France (ABTOF), for which he was awarded the Tourism Medal from the French Government.
In 2015 Chris became President of the Coach Drivers’ Club, with the aim of championing the club and endorsing the benefits to drivers and the wider tourism community.
