Pelican Bus and Coach has marked having reached the position where 50% of its senior management team members are women.
That is described by the Yutong importer as “a significant milestone in any industry” and positions the Castleford business “as a leader in promoting gender diversity within the transport sector and demonstrates its commitment to building a more inclusive workforce.”

Ms Nelson joined the business earlier in 2024.
Mr Downie notes that the landmark not only proves that equality of leadership in coach and bus is possible, but “also essential for driving innovation.”
He enjoyed a long career in the sector prior to joining Pelican Bus and Coach. “The transport industry has long been male dominated, but we are proving that change is possible. At Pelican, we strongly believe that diversity drives business innovation and success.
“Our commitment to inclusion and diversity comes from the very top. A diverse culture enriches our workforce and drives innovation in everything we do. This senior team has driven the success of Yutong in the UK, and we are excited that our diverse workforce continues to develop and lead Yutong sales and aftermarket support within Pelican.”
Ms Hogan carries overall responsibility for aftersales support of Yutong vehicles in the UK. That is “dynamic and challenging,” she says. “Yutong’s success is driven by the dedication and talent of the women and men on our team. Several women play key roles here, and alongside their male colleagues, they are helping us to achieve great things in this industry.”
