Simon Carlisle has been named Engineering Director of Go North East. He joins from First West Yorkshire, where he held the same position for seven years.
Mr Carlisle is a multiple-time award-winner in his field who was named Engineer of the Year, Large Operator in the 2022 routeone Awards. He was commended by the judges at that time for having a focus on day-to-day matters while also maintaining a strategic view.
Having taken up a first supervisory role in Leeds during 2004, Mr Carlisle was appointed an Engineering Manager in 2007. His career grew further from there and he was named Engineering Director of First West Yorkshire in 2017.
Speaking about the appointment of Mr Carlisle, Go North East Managing Director Nigel Featham says: “Simon brings a wealth of experience and high-calibre leadership to our team, and we are excited to welcome him on board.
“His proven track record in enhancing service delivery and engineering excellence will be invaluable as we strive to innovate and improve services for our customers.”
