Louise Cheeseman will take up the post of Director of Buses at Transport for London (TfL) on 2 August. She joins from FirstGroup-owned open access rail operator Hull Trains, where she previously held the role of Managing Director.
Ms Cheeseman began her career in the transport industry in 2001 as a guard with Hull Trains. In the meantime, she has held key operations and safety roles with Serco Docklands – operator of the Docklands Light Railway – and with the Metrolink tram network in Manchester.
Says TfL Managing Director of Surface Transport Gareth Powell: “I am thrilled that Louise will be joining us to lead the decarbonisation of London’s buses while helping this iconic form of transport support London’s sustainable recovery.
“Louise’s proven track record of success in operations and people leadership stood out in a high-calibre field of candidates. I am very much looking forward to working with Louise at such an important time for the city.”
“I am immensely proud to be joining TfL – an iconic organisation I have long admired,” adds Louise Cheeseman. “The opportunity to run the London bus network, the beating heart of the capital’s transport system, is enormously exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”
