Despite the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, Go North East has today (15 December) launched its open-top ‘Santa bus’ which will tour the region until Christmas Eve to spread Christmas cheer.
The bus, which is decorated with Christmas themed lighting donated by Parkside Community Centre, will not stop at any of its usual locations, but will move slowly through the Go North East operating area to avoid crowding.
The company has launched a Twitter hashtag – #GNESantaBus – and is encouraging keen-eyed spotters to share photos across social media.
“We’re delighted to be spreading some festive cheer at a time when a lot of events can’t go ahead as they usually would,” says Go North East Managing Director Martijn Gilbert. “The Santa bus will be touring the region and although we can’t advertise exact times and attract crowds, we’re asking you all to keep your eyes peeled as it passes through your area.”
