‘Give everyone hope of progressing’
Is attracting young people into office positions really difficult?
Getting young people to actually do the work and drive buses is going to be more of a struggle.
The only thing that will make people become and stay a driver is better wages and conditions.
I’m not anti-university graduates (I have a degree from OU), but I honestly think it would be better to promote through the ranks than just bring people in at supervisory level.
Low pay, poor conditions and non-recognition results in high staff turnover and a lower overall skill base.
I’m sure a driver could be promoted [to an office position] and given everyone else some hope of progressing. Just my thoughts.
