I have been taking in the government and local councils statements regarding reducing pollution and congestion with a wry smile.
I have twice written in the last two years to the Office for Low Emission Vehicles to enquire if (or when) we may see any grants available to the minibus sector for electric vehicle, to be told that they have no plans in place or foresee any future plans for this class of vehicle.
Given the number of minibuses out there and the fact that they represent a significant saving in congestion footprints over standard buses and coaches makes me wonder why are they not included.
Could we see a point in the future where both cars and coaches are silently and cleanly running along on electric power, only to then disappear behind a cloud of smoke from a 25-year-old minibus?
