‘Give us the choice’

Can someone please tell me why all new coaches in the UK have a ‘continental’ door? None of the thousands of European coaches that visit our shores every year have a ‘UK’ door, and they seem to get along fine.

I have an international licence but barely one in a thousand journeys is made in Europe, so why do I have to buy a coach with a continental door that I can never use?

One new coach I have is a 70-seat single-deck that has both doors on the kerb side. This was a major factor in choosing this vehicle and it is brilliant for getting the passenger on and off.

In fact, our last trip to Europe was in this coach and there were no comments about exiting on the road side at all.

Come on all coach manufactures – start producing UK doors so that my passengers can get on and off safely from the front and the back. It may not be for every coach company, but give us the choice.
