With the routeone Awards season well under way, I was wondering whether it was too late for the organisers to consider a new Excitement Award category?
From a cursory glance at routeone’s People section of the four July publications, there were no fewer than six references to managers who were delighted about their choices of new appointees to key posts. Or, alternatively, the appointees themselves were delighted about their upcoming new roles. Meanwhile, two senior managers were excited about their new challenges.
The leading contender from the July crop however, would have to be Martijn Gilbert, CEO at Reading Buses at the time, who, we are told, was “absolutely overwhelmed” when his company scooped the Business Champion of the Arts accolade at the Reading Cultural Awards.
I do hope that Martijn suffered no lasting ill effects and that he recovered quickly enough to be at his desk the following morning.
