Tewkesbury-based Arthur Spriggs and Sons has grown its aftersales support offering for Daimler Buses products by reaching agreement to include the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro bus within that scope.
The specialist says that extension of its longstanding offering for diesel-powered vehicles from that manufacturer’s fold to the eCitaro sits alongside a substantial investment in facilities and training.
Aftersales support for the eCitaro will be provided either at Spriggs’ own facility in Gloucestershire or at customers’ locations, which it adds will ensure that operators “receive timely and efficient service, reducing downtime and maintaining the operational readiness of their electric fleets.”
Equipment sourced to allow the eCitaro to be supported includes a 40kW mobile charging unit and a bespoke platform. The latter is configured to ensure the safety of technicians when working at roof level. That is particularly relevant to the eCitaro as it has high voltage systems and batteries located there.
Technicians at Arthur Spriggs have already completed Level 2 High Voltage Awareness training to equip them with necessary skills to carry out maintenance of battery-electric buses. More knowledge transfer is planned for this year and next to continue building those capabilities.
Speaking about the expansion, Arthur Spriggs and Sons Managing Director Chris Spriggs says: “We are excited to expand out aftersales support to include the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro.
“Our investment in advanced equipment and specialised training underscores our commitment to providing top-tier services to our customers, ensuring that their electric fleets remain efficient and reliable.”
