Transport for Wales (TfW) has adopted the EPM Contract Performance product, which the supplier says has been developed to suit local transport authorities and overseeing bodies. It manages all stages of contract procurement, management and performance analysis and will be used by TfW to improve its TrawsCymru network.
EPM designed Contract Performance to serve as what it calls “a powerful solution” that uses data available from platforms that support bus operation. Monitoring and analysis is automatic and the system standardises processes as well as giving TfW the capability of benchmarking operators against KPIs.
The product delivers an overall performance score for the contracted TrawsCymru network and for individual operators. It utilises a combination of existing data from EPM and third-party solutions. Operators are scored based on reliability; the driver; and processes, which includes vehicle maintenance.
Advanced analytics comes from integration with the EPM Insights platform. Such reporting capability gives TfW scope to investigate the root cause of identified issues and receive a better understanding of individual operator scores, EPM says. “The powerful management information provides actionable insights to drive network improvements,” it continues.
Speaking about the deployment of the EPM Contract Performance product, TfW Development Director for Mid, North and Rural Wales Lee Robinson says: “Our aim is to make public transport an easy and obvious choice for the people of Wales, to encourage behaviour change and model shift, and support Welsh Government policy direction.
“We are confident that the Contract Performance solution will support us in achieving our goal and that it will provide us with valuable in-depth knowledge and understanding of the TrawsCymru network.
“A key aspect of the platform is monitoring the performance of our contracts. Having on-demand visibility of this will enable us to develop improvement plans and ensure that a quality service is being delivered to meet the needs of our local communities.”
