Giti Tyre’s first specific winter-marked tyre, the GSW226, has proved its credentials during a nine-day trip to Austria and Switzerland by Stockton-On-Tees-based operator Compass Royston.
The GSW226 is one of many tyres that are being rebranded to Giti from GT Radial, and it proved its worth when trialled on a Berkhof-bodied DAF.
Says Transport Manager Mark Bainbridge: “We have primarily used various premium manufacturers for our overseas winter tours, but after feedback from our sister companies Esk Valley Coaches and Proctors Coaches, who use the GSW226 year round, we decided to put Giti to the test.”
“Reaction from the workshop and from drivers is nothing but positive,” adds Workshop Manager Gary Buxton.
“Drivers’ main observation was the tyre’s excellent road holding in both ice and snow, but also it was noted how well it performs when the roads were dry or wet.”
Trials will continue in Compass Royston’s day-to-day operations to ascertain wear and mileage credentials.
The GSW226 is available in sizes including 315/70 R22.5 and 315/80 R22.5. It has a wide shoulder groove to deliver optimum handling and stability, says Giti.
