Parksafe Group was awarded the Viva Shield at The Carmen’s Transport Awards on 22 April. The supplier gained recognition for its in-vehicle Low Bridge Detection System, with the ceremony taking place at the Mansion House in London.
The Viva Shield is what Parksafe calls The Worshipful Company of Carmen’s premier award. It honours innovation, improvement or development within the transport industry that contributes most notably to the advancement of transport in Europe.
Speaking about the victory, Parksafe Group Founder and Managing Director Mick Barber (pictured, second from left) says: “I am delighted that Parksafe Group has been recognised for its innovative safety solutions for the whole of the transport industry.
“It was a huge honour for me to receive this esteemed award, and it is an unmistakeable recognition of the dedication that our company has towards the automotive industry.”
The Low Bridge Detection System can detect up to 3,764 low bridges within the UK. When coupled to GPS, the product uses LED-enhanced alerts and an audible warning system that automatically activates at least 300m from one of those structures.
Parksafe adds that the on-vehicle hardware carries the database offline, mitigating the need for a data connection. No driver input is required, as the height and width of the vehicle in question is inputted during installation.
The Carmen’s Transport Awards are an integral part of The Worshipful Company of Carmen’s annual activities. Beside the Viva Shield as won in 2024 by Parksafe, they also capture extending the frontiers of achievement; environmental awareness; outstanding achievement; and contemporary knowledge-enhancing activity.
