Arriva has introduced two sets of four Stertil-Koni ST1075FWA wireless mobile column lifts to its engineering function at Stevenage depot.

They build on previous investment in lifting equipment from the same supplier at the operating centre. Each column has a capacity of 7,500kg, with the resulting 30,000kg maximum per four-unit set giving plentiful scope for safe lifting of Arriva vehicles.

Such a position reflects the group’s “continued confidence in Stertil-Koni’s lifting technology while supporting the efficient maintenance of its fleet,” the supplier says.

As mobile columns, the ST1075FWA units can be positioned wherever needed and stored away when not in use. That allows workshop layouts to be adopted to changing maintenance demands and job patterns, helping engineers to maximise space utilisation and reduce vehicle downtime.

Wireless design further improves garage efficiency by eliminating interconnecting cables, reducing setup time and removing trip hazards. Stertil-Koni’s ebright Smart Control System complements that with a full-colour touchscreen, allowing engineers to quickly operate individual columns, or complete lifting sets from any unit.

The columns communicate via its advanced wireless mesh network. That maintains reliable communication across all columns, even in busy workshop environments, the supplier says.

“Unlike conventional Bluetooth or radio-based systems, the mesh network enables every column to communicate with every other column in the set, providing greater reliability and resilience,” it continues.

Power comes from long-life, deep-cycle batteries that typically provide a week’s operation between charges. The lifts consume energy only when rising, delivering an efficient and dependable solution for demanding commercial vehicle workshops.

For safety, each column has an integrated mechanical locking system and advanced synchronisation technology. Any height difference greater than 15mm between columns is automatically corrected to ensure smooth and stable lifting and lowering, even with unevenly distributed loads.

For additional peace of mind, the ST1075FWA column is independently tested to meet demanding international safety standards, including the United States ANSI/ALI ALCTV requirements, alongside CE certification.
