On the third day of the show Licence Check announced that it has been purchased by Oxford-based online solutions provider, Ebbon-Dacs.
The acquisition of Derby-based Licence Check, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last month, was confirmed at 00:01hrs on 1 November.
Managing Director Richard Brown told routeone at the show that the sale of the company provided an opportunity for more investment to be made in the compliance products and software.
It is one of the UK’s leading licence checking businesses, carrying out hundreds of thousands of online driver licence checks per annum.
Richard Brown and Commercial Director, Terry Hiles, along with all existing staff, will remain with the business which will continue to be based in Derby.
The company also used its presence at the show to demonstrate its Driver And Vehicle Information Solutions (DAVIS).
DAVIS’ Card Data Reader (CDR) – a desktop device which instantly checks and authenticates the layout and security features in driving licences, CPC and tacho cards – was on display scanning visitors licences at their request. It reads and captures data and initiates the driver approvals process.
Says Robert Pilkington, director at Ebbon-Dacs: “DAVIS, coupled with our own latest mobile technologies, is the means by which we plan to offer our customers the best platform in this important health and safety area for both end-user fleets and our many customers who provide services to those fleets.”
