South Wales Police has fined a community transport organisation for operating a local authority school contract under a section 19 permit.
Neath-based DANSA Integrated Community Transport was fined £600 after a police check outside a primary school. It is the first known instance of a fine being issued under such circumstances.
The operator was reportedly told by officers that it should hold an O-Licence. It was issued with penalty notices of £300 for each of two vehicles.
DANSA and the Community Transport Association both declined to comment because the police case is ongoing.
Neath Port Talbot Council says: “The contracts were awarded in line with [section] 5.1 of the DfT’s updated guidance of 1 February 2018 concerning section 19 and section 22 permits.”
