The first Van Hool ExquiCity for Belfast’s Glider BRT has made its debut

The bus rapid transit system for Belfast will be branded Glider, with the name being revealed at the same time that the first hybrid-powered Van Hool ExquiCity for Northern Ireland broke cover at Busworld.

30 of the distinctive purple articulated buses will enter service in the second half of 2018 and they will form the centrepiece of a strategy to increase public transport use in the city.

The ExquiCity is a fully-low-floor three-door bus with mechanical components in a compartment at the rear offside.

High-backed seats are fitted along with USB charging points and the first example will be delivered to Translink this year.
