BYD Europe Managing Director Isbrand Ho took aim at both other electric bus manufacturers and those that use diesel engines when speaking at Busworld.
“Diesel engines have terrible consequences for human health and we must put right what we have done. Cleaning the air that we breathe is not just an option. It is a necessity,” says Mr Ho.
While unveiling an 8.75m battery-powered midibus, Mr Ho also took a swipe at opportunity charging, claiming that it is “expensive and ugly.”
The midibus will not come to the UK in the short term. BYD says that the next product to arrive will be a zero-emission double-decker in partnership with Alexander Dennis.
