Extension of VDL range to arrive in May; Mago is 10.5t GVW midi on Iveco base and nearly over the line
In a significant extension of its range, the Associated Moseley Group announced at CBUK that it is to offer three Beulas bodies on VDL two-axle SB4000 and three-axle SBR4000 chassis to complement its existing MAN-based offering.
The mid-height Cygnus, the super-high Mythos and the Glory interdecker will all be built on VDL units for the UK and MD Karl Moseley says the group has already ordered eight chassis. The first finished coach is expected to be delivered by June.
“We have six two-axle and two three-axle chassis on order and I am hopeful that number will grow in the near future,” says Mr Moseley. “This development adds to our existing Beulas and VDL ranges.”
In two-axle VDL chassis, the DAF MX-11 engine rated at 370bhp will be used, coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox. Three-axle underframes will come with the MX-13 delivering 510bhp and AS-Tronic transmission.
The group also displayed a left-hand drive Indcar Mago on its stand. The front-engined midicoach seats up to 31 and the show was used to gauge operator response, which Mr Moseley says was good.
“Indcar requires only a small initial order to justify right-hand drive production. Commitments from operators mean that we’re approaching that threshold so I’m optimistic that we will bring the Mago to the UK.”
The Mago is built on a 10.5t GVW Eurocargo chassis. It has a 220bhp Tector engine and either a manual or an automated gearbox, along with a Telma retarder and air suspension.
