Volvo Bus has raised £94,000 raised for Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT), thanks to a further £15,000 gained from its eighth annual golf day at the Warwickshire Golf and Country Club.
Each year the event, a regular fixture in the industry’s calendar, attracts 100 golfers including business partners and suppliers.
Nick Page, MD Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, says: “We are grateful to everyone who once again support the day and helped to raise money for this important cause. “
TCT Regional Fundraiser Charlotte Kendall adds: “The support we’ve received from Volvo Bus over the past eight years has been invaluable. We are incredibly grateful and cannot thank Volvo enough for its commitment to the cause.”
The TCT improves the quality of life and chances of survival of young people diagnosed with cancer, and ensures that no young person has to face cancer alone.
Relying solely on donations, TCT provides specialist units that bring people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed specifically for them and their needs.
The golf day provides a full day of sporting competition, hospitality and entertainment for those taking part.
Starting with a hearty breakfast before heading out onto the golf course, a selection of prizes were up for grabs for golfers to test their skills, including the nearest pin and longest drive of the day, as well as ‘beat the pro’.
Once the competition is completed, it is back to the clubhouse for refreshments. A gala dinner then takes place, featuring a raffle, followed by evening entertainment.
