The UK’s first Minibus Compliance Course written specifically for schools and approved by RoSPA, has been launched by the Independent Schools’ Bursars Association and Castle Driver Training.
Its creation, with the involvement of former Senior Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell, follows a Castle Driver Training survey in 2017 revealing more than 70% of the 300-plus schools asked were unaware of their obligations under the Section 19 Permit.
The new course is delivered by Castle Driver Training in two parts. The first involves a day of classroom-based training while the second part is a half-day compliance assessment visit with the appointed transport manager for participating schools.
“The law in this area is complex and not always easily understood by schools and their teaching staff with severe penalties for non-compliance – as well as the risk to the safety of your pupils. It is therefore vital that your school gets it right,” said Beverley Bell.
