Greys of Ely hired a traditional set of gallopers, which were in sharp contrast to the modern lines of the firm’s up-to-date fleet.
The event on Saturday (26 August) marked the Witchford operator’s 70th anniversary, and it chose to throw open its yard as a ‘thank you’ as well as a celebration, while the gallopers provided a splash of colour and kinetic entertainment.
Says MD Richard Grey: “We are celebrating 70 years since our company was founded. The event also marked how the business has grown over the years.
“There was also the opportunity to see some of our recent fleet additions and have a ride on a the gallopers, just to add a fun element to the day.”
The firm was founded in 1946 by Charles Grey who provided coach travel, as well the local taxi, wedding, hearse, and ambulance service.
From its small beginnings the, now third-generation family business, grew from one small 29-seat petrol-engined coach to its now 30 strong fleet.
The business moved, in the early 1990s, to a purpose built premises at Witchford, on the outskirts of Ely and now operates with 25 staff.
