The Harrogate Bus Company is searching for a local to become the voice of its eight zero-emission electric single-deckers.
The buses will be the first vehicles of their kind in regular service anywhere in the country, as Harrogate becomes the first UK town to permanently introduce the new buses.
Ahead of the launch, The Harrogate Bus Company is searching for a proud local to become the friendly voice of the high-tech buses when they enter service in the town later this year.
Alex Hornby, CEO of The Harrogate Bus Company, says: “These new zero-emission, 100% electric buses will put Harrogate on the map as a transport centre of excellence. Our company will be the first in the UK to offer this as a permanent application to help reduce carbon emissions on buses that people will want to be seen on.
“I’m immensely proud that we’ve secured £2.25m in funding under the Government’s Low Emission Bus Scheme alongside a £2m investment from Transdev to introduce these buses to Harrogate and change the face of the local bus network.
“We also believe that no-one knows better than our own customers what makes an amazing journey who travel with us every day. That’s why we’re looking for someone who will quickly become one of the most familiar voices in Harrogate.”
Entrants need to follow two steps to be in with a chance of becoming the ‘voice of Harrogate’, welcoming customers on board the most up-to-the-minute buses in Britain.
