Ernest (‘Ernie’) Bradshaw, long-standing Director of G-Line Holidays Ltd, sadly passed away on 6 December at the age of 83, following a short illness.
Mr Bradshaw took over the running of the Lytham St Annes operator in the 1980s and was still actively involved in the business until he became ill in recent months.
A company spokesperson says: “Ernie was a stalwart of this three-generation family-run business and integral to the growth of G-Line Holidays, he will certainly be known to many in the industry.
“Ernie was loved and adored by his children and grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his many friends and all his staff. He will be greatly missed by us all”.
G-Line Holidays was purchased in 1967 by Mr Bradshaw’s father, William (‘Bill’), and William’s nephew, Colin Roskell.
Mr Bradshaw began working for the business a few years later and, along with wife Muriel, took over at the helm following the retirement of Bill and his wife, Grace.
By this time, the business was operating its own excursions and holidays. The couple then set about further expansion, more latterly with two of their three children, Adam Bradshaw and Pamela Jenkinson, who today oversee the day-to-day running of a business which now operates more than 200 holidays and nearly 300 local excursions annually.
Mr Bradshaw’s funeral will take place at 1100hrs on 3 January at Stalmine Church, and the family would welcome donations to Trinity Hospice in Blackpool or The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
