The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) held its latest Low Emission Bus Workshop last Tuesday (11 December).

The regional workshop – held at Birmingham International Airport – provided the opportunity for bus operators to get up-to-date information on the low carbon bus market in the UK and specifically in the West Midlands.

Attendees heard from a host of industry professionals, including Edmund Salt, Network Development Manager for Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) on TfWM’s vision for bus; Andy McDarmaid, Interim Fleet Manager, Birmingham Airport, who focused on the Airport’s rollout of low-emission vehicles; and Gary Mason from Nottingham City Transport provided a case study of double-decker biomethane buses in Nottingham.

The purpose of these workshops is “to encourage the take-up of low-emission buses through providing bus operators with evidence of performance of low-carbon and low-emission buses and enhance confidence in new technologies,” says the LowCVP.

The workshop was the sixth of its kind, with previous locations in Cardiff, Glasgow and Leeds.
