Former Nuttalls Coaches director, brothers David and Darren Bennett, have been given suspended prison sentences after admitting fraudulent VAT claims of £133,327. Liverpool Crown Court also ordered both to pay a victim surcharge of £140.
The court heard that the brothers sold Nuttalls Coaches in June 2015 but continued to use the company’s VAT registration number until April 2017 to make false claims.
David Bennett, of Cantilever Gardens, Latchford, Warrington, and Darren Bennett of Acery Close, Padgate, Warrington, pleaded guilty to charges of fraudulently evading VAT, fraud by false representation and money laundering.
They were sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 250 hours of community service.
