FlixBus to launch Bristol and Leeds to Amsterdam services

FlixBus will launch two additional services between the UK and Amsterdam in July. One will be operated by Whippet from 13 July and run from and to Leeds, while the other will commence on 21 July, run from and to Bristol, and be operated by Turners Coaches.

The Yorkshire route will call at Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Cambridge, Stratford and North Greenwich. In the Netherlands it will serve Antwerp, Utrecht and Amsterdam. The Bristol service will run via London, and once over the English Channel it will stop at Bruges, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Separate to the international expansion to Amsterdam, FlixBus will also grow its presence in South West England from 20 July. The existing route between London and Plymouth, operated by Berrys Coaches, will be extended to Penzance via Newquay and Hayle twice daily for the summer season.

FlixBus UK Managing Director Andreas Schorling says that the further uplift forms part of the business’s long-stated quest to build the UK’s largest scheduled coach network. It already operates up to four services daily between Amsterdam and Victoria Coach Station in London.

“We will become the first coach provider offering regular scheduled services from cities like Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham and Bristol into Amsterdam, one of the most popular destinations in Europe,” says Mr Schorling.

“Three of our long-term coach operator partners will be expanding their footprint on our network based on the successes we have shared over the past two years. Our phenomenal growth is thanks to the strong relationships we have with operators as we cement FlixBus’s position as a key player in the industry.”

FlixBus will also shortly introduce a direct overnight service between Aberdeen and London. That service will run from and to Littlejohn Street in Aberdeen as a result of an ongoing dispute between FlixBus and Stagecoach over access to Union Square bus station in the city.
