The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has successfully raised over £500 for the Eastbourne branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

The funds were collected during CPT’s Annual Dinner for the South East and London regions, held at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, which saw a gathering of more than 120 industry professionals.

Matthew Arnold, Regional Chair for CPT’s London and South East division, and Commercial Director at Stagecoach South East, presented the cheque to Carl Pocock, Operations Manager at RNLI Eastbourne, at Sovereign Harbour.

“It was a real pleasure to present this cheque to our friends at RNLI Eastbourne,” says Mr Arnold. “The lifeboat crew do an incredible job on behalf of us all, so it was an obvious choice of charity for us to fundraise for. It was great to meet everyone, all the crew are so humble!”

“We are extremely grateful to receive this amazing donation from CPT,” adds Mr Pocock. “RNLI is entirely dependent on donations from the public to keep our lifeboats afloat so this money will go directly to helping us continue to save lives at sea.”

RNLI, celebrated for its life-saving work at sea, operates solely on public donations and volunteer support. It has saved over 142,700 lives since its inception in 1824 through a network of lifeboat stations and lifeguard units.
