Addressing fleet electrification challenges with advanced charge management software

As the transition to zero-emission vehicles continues to gain momentum, fleets are turning to advanced charge management software to put their fleet transition plans into action while optimising energy consumption and lowering costs.

Putting an advanced fleet transition plan into action requires a charge management platform (CMP) that can operate based on the outputs of the plan. A charge management platform is a software solution that enables you to manage and monitor electric vehicle charging stations. At their core, they provide a centralised system for managing how, when, and where your electric vehicles are charged. However, not all CMPs are created equally in their approach or functionality.

At a high-level, CMPs offer several benefits that can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your electric vehicle operations including:

  • Monitoring and reporting: CMPs facilitate the collection of critical data, such as mileage and energy consumption, from vehicles and chargers. This enables fleet managers to monitor performance, comply with funding requirements, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Optimise charging to meet service: CMPs can intelligently schedule and optimise charging sessions around the realities of fleet operations to ensure you can still complete service with the right solution.
  • Energy management: CMPs can help fleets with electric vehicles implement a variety of energy management strategies to reduce costs, both in terms of grid infrastructure upgrades and on-going energy costs. They can do this by mitigating spikes in power demand, avoiding charging during peak times, and optimising energy consumption based on specific tariffs.
  • Corrective maintenance: CMPs can identify faults with charging systems and provide diagnostics information to escalate issues to appropriate parties and expedite fault resolution.
  • Depot dispatch and parking: Offering integrated optimisation of charging strategies together with dispatch and parking strategies. This streamlines net zero operation, understanding and optimising for operational complexities as Operators scale-up the introduction of net zero vehicles.
  • Additional functionality that can be incorporated includes battery health monitoring for warranty management, management of distributed energy resources such as solar and stationary storage systems (to provide grid resilience and avoid global adjustment utility charges in some markets which can be substantial).

Fleets around the world are now deploying electric vehicle fleets and managing their charging systems on a daily basis with charge management systems like the BetterFleet platform from Evenergi. By utilising advanced charge management systems, fleets are able to follow through on their zero emission transition plans with more control over their fleet and less money spent on infrastructure costs and energy consumption.

BetterFleet streamlines the transition to zero-emission vehicles with intelligent software solutions that enable organisations to plan and manage fleets with a simplified, data-driven approach. BetterFleet is the net zero integrated Platform of Evenergi, a global leader in planning, procurement, implementation and operations software for zero-emission fleets and infrastructure. Founded in 2016 in the UK and Australia, the company has expanded to serve over 200 complex fleets across the UK and Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
