One of the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems, Knorr-Bremse, knows how to implement a strategy of continuous improvement at both a local and international level, and it will take that expertise into the IRTE Skills Challenge as a sponsor again this year.

Over a demanding two years in the road transport industry beset by supply chain delays and pandemicenforced closures, Knorr-Bremse stuck to its principles by focusing on the next level of performance and innovation.

Now, Knorr-Bremse continues its sponsorship of the IRTE Skills Challenge for coach and bus apprentices and technicians with a strong desire to make the competition and industry better. Knorr-Bremse believes that time and money being spent on young people through apprenticeships and other engineering skills training courses will pay dividends for the industry in the long term, just as the Skills Challenge helps show the best side of the sector.

Tim Ford, Head of Aftermarket Sales and Customer Service at Knorr-Bremse, says: “We continue to invest a significant amount of time and money into projects for young people. There’s a huge amount of work being done by different parties to make this event such a success.”

Knorr-Bremse heads into the Skills Challenge excited about the new chapter ahead but, as Mr Ford says, it’s an opportunity not to be missed for the apprentices and technicians.

“At the Skills Challenge testing week and the awards ceremony, you can see first-hand the great happiness of the competitors. It is such a wonderful opportunity for them to move their careers forward,” adds Mr Ford. “At KnorrBremse, whether it is apprenticeships or cooperative education programmes where young people come over to the UK, we believe in continuous improvement and that means helping them develop and rewarding them for their dedication.”
