From Sunday (29 January), Transport for Greater Manchester is merging the current Tame Valley and Hattersley Local Link services to become the new East Tameside Local Link.

It will allow existing customers to continue to make the same journeys, but with the option of travelling within a much wider area.

Councillor Mark Aldred, Vice Chair of the TfGM Committee, says: “The new East Tameside Local Link has been introduced to cover a larger area and to make travelling within Tameside easier and more accessible for everyone.

“By merging the two previous Local Link services we also hope to attract new passengers, which will help to sustain the service in the long-term.

“As well as providing access to local jobs, healthcare and shopping and leisure, people can use the service to link up with other bus services to travel further afield.

“Anyone can use the service as it is a fully accessible, affordable and convenient way to get around.”

The new service will cover popular destinations including Ashton, Hyde, Dukinfield and Stalybridge town centres, as well as Tameside General Hospital and Tameside College.

New passengers need to register once and can then book journeys online or by phone for up to one week before, with just an hour’s notice needed.

Customers can get picked up or dropped off at home or anywhere in the service area. The service runs Monday to Friday 5.30am to 10pm and Sunday 6am to 10pm.

As the service now covers a larger area, journeys will now be charged at £2.70/£4.00 for an adult single or return and £1.35/£2.00 for a concession single and return. Concessionary plus pass holders will continue to travel for free.
