Daljit KaliraiDaljit Kalirai has been announced as Interim CEO of Women in Transport, filling in for Sonya Byers, who is on maternity leave.

Ms Kalirai is Co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Bus Group and roles have included Sales and Partnerships Director at National Express West Midlands and Head of Sales at National Express.

She says: “My focus will be on continuing our momentum, championing the incredible work of our team Women in Transport and fostering an environment where every voice is heard and valued.

“I am eager to collaborate with our talented members and partners to further our initiatives and ensure we remain a beacon of support and inspiration for women in the transport industry.”

It has also been announced that ALBUM has renewed its contract with Women in Transport.

ALBUM took out an Advocacy package with the network last year, which led to multiple memberships for some of its operators.

Ms Kalirai says: “We are thrilled that ALBUM has renewed its partnership with us, reaffirming our shared mission to build a strong network and community within the transport sector that can make a real impact.

“This partnership renewal includes collaboration across a number of key projects for Women in Transport, including our Diversity and Inclusion Bus Group, the Advance mentoring programme and our 2024 Equity Index.

“The invaluable support of ALBUM is helping us support gender equity in transport nationally and make a positive impact across the sector as a whole. We look forward to our continued collaboration and the promising future ahead.”

Bill Hiron, Chairman of ALBUM, adds: “ALBUM is proud to continue working with Women in Transport. Their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the bus industry aligns well with our objectives.

“We are excited to collaborate on initiatives that will drive positive change and support the development of a more equitable industry. Together, we can achieve more and positively impact the future of transport.

“Last year, our partnership provided multiple memberships to ALBUM operators and allowed one of our members from Warrington’s Own Buses to take part in the mentorship programme.

“We were also delighted to have Women in Transport speakers at our 2023 and 2024 Annual Conference. This year, we have even more collaborative plans to support ALBUM members alongside Women in Transport, including webinars and special events.”
