Colleagues at Stagecoach East have whipped up an array of confections in a ‘bake-off’ competition, with proceeds going to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
The baking entries showcased an imaginative twist on literary themes and bus-related puns. Among the submissions were a James and the Giant Peach-themed cake, beetroot and espresso brownies, ‘bus-coff’ cakes, ‘busman’s brownies’, as well as classics like lemon drizzle and chocolate cake. The Everlasting Gobstoppers, inspired by Roald Dahl’s imaginative universe, took the crown.
The winning treat was the handiwork of Hayden Mustafa, Operations Manager at Peterborough. He says: “I could not be more proud of everyone for their efforts in baking and raising money for this hugely important charity. It has been an outstanding effort by our talented and generous colleagues to give up so much of their time, skills, and money to support an extremely worthwhile cause.
“Sadly, there can be very few of us who have not been touched by the serious illness of someone close to us, and when that person is a child, the situation is all the more painful. Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity’s vision is that every seriously ill child should have one of its specialist nurses to help them to lead the best life they can. If we have played a small part in helping to turn that vision into reality, then we are delighted.”
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, Stagecoach’s chosen partner, delivers specialist nursing and care to seriously ill children grappling with intricate, lifelong ailments. Collaborating closely with the NHS, the organisation plays a vital role in bridging gaps in provision, focusing on conditions that often find themselves lacking in funds and resources.
