Rio De’Silva, Administration Officer at the Peterborough Depot of Stagecoach East, is set to part with her long locks in the name of charity.

Rio is gearing up for the hair transformation by participating in the ‘brave the shave’ initiative, scheduled for Friday 15 March, in order to raise £1,000 for the Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice located in Peterborough.

The hospice, known for being the sole specialist palliative care inpatient facility in the area, plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care to individuals grappling with life-limiting conditions, alongside offering support to their families during challenging times.

Expressing her motivation behind the bold move, Rio says: “This is a huge step for me, but it will be worth it to raise vital funds for such an important cause. Thorpe Hall does very important work in caring for people at extremely vulnerable periods of their lives and several of my colleagues here at the depot have had the lives of friends and family touched by their work.”

The initiative has garnered support within the Stagecoach East community, with Hayden Mustafa, Interim Operations Manager at the Peterborough depot, commending Rio’s courage and commitment to the cause. He says: “We are so proud of Rio for what she is doing. It is a big step to support a worthy cause and I know that everyone in the depot will get behind her fund-raising effort.”

Those wishing to support De’Silva in her charitable endeavour for Thorpe Hall Hospice can contribute through her fundraising page.
