Reading Buses has renewed its contract with MiX Telematics for a further three years. The deal covers the operator’s entire Reading- and Newbury-based fleet.
The MiX Fleet Manager product, alongside a real-time in-cab coaching tool and driver identification, is integrated into ticket machines and connected to the vehicle CAN bus. That allows it to provide true vehicle road speed and engine speed and fuel usage, along with engineering data such as low battery charge and high engine temperature warnings.
Reading Buses awarded the extension after a competitive tendering process. Says Finance Director Laurence Jenkins: “The MiX solution helps us to monitor our driving performance and to continually improve our efficiency. We have been particularly impressed with the ease of integration with our other systems.”
Adds Mix Telematics Europe Sales Director Richard Adams: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Reading Buses, which is recognised as a key, innovative operator. The past six years have been exciting as we have worked together closely to reduce road risk and increase passenger comfort.
“We see Reading Buses as a very forward-thinking company and we anticipate creating further projects to enable it to achieve ever-stronger business improvements.”
