A new coach drop off and pick up point has been created in Abingdon by Vale of White Horse District Council in a bid to help visitors and reduce congestion in the town.
The stop is at Hales Meadow car park on the A415 next to the River Thames. Coaches will be permitted to stop there for a maximum of 20 minutes.
Drivers will be expected to switch off engines while stationary as part of the local authority’s anti-idling campaign.
The government recently announced plans for tougher penalties for those drivers who leave engines running unnecessarily.
The new coach stop in Abingdon has caused the removal of five car parking spaces.
