National Express is offering customers on its scheduled coach network the opportunity to purchase tickets using ‘buy now, pay later’ provider Clearpay.
The option will allow National Express customers to use Clearpay to spread the cost of travel via four instalments over six weeks without incurring interest. National Express says it is the first UK travel sector company to offer Clearpay as an option. The service is free for those users who pay on time, with late fees applied where payment deadlines are missed.
Says National Express Commercial Director John Boughton: “National Express is well known for convenience, whether that is our unrivalled choice of destinations or options of how customers can make contact.
“Providing greater choice and convenience when it comes to payment is a key way we can continue to improve our customer service, and partnering with Clearpay is a great way to do this.
“We are looking forward to seeing more people return to travel this year and we are pleased to be able to offer them the opportunity to use Clearpay.”
Clearpay claims that 98% of transactions never incur a late fee and that almost a third of customers “make the majority of their repayments ahead of time.”
