Chalkwell Coach Hire of Kent has taken delivery of its first new full-sized coach in over two decades in the form of a Volvo B8R with Plaxton Leopard bodywork. The vehicle has been supplied by Alexander Dennis.
The Leopard has 72 seats in a 3+2 arrangement and it is PSVAR compliant. A lift is fitted immediately ahead of the rear axle and the coach comes with a cherished registration mark. Chalkwell has described the purchase as a “landmark investment” after its last previous new full-size coach arrived in 1998, also bodied by Plaxton.
Says Managing Director Roland Eglinton: “We are delighted to upgrade our fleet with this brand new Plaxton Leopard coach, which gives us an unbeatable 72-seat capacity and PSVAR certification.
“Having operated Plaxton coaches for many years, including pre-owned vehicles, we know how versatile and adaptable they are in later life, and this gives us confidence that it will retain its value for a long time.”
Adds Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager Mark Taylor: “It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome Chalkwell Coach Hire back as a customer for brand-new coaches.
“The Plaxton Leopard is a great fit for the quality operation run by Roland as his team and we look forward to continuing to support it through a long service life.”
