Golden Boy Coaches of Hoddesdon has become the first operator in the UK to take delivery of an Irizar i6S Efficient integral.
The coach is prepared for PSVAR compliance later in life. It is a 13.2m tri-axle that has 53 seats finished in full leather and with lap belts and USB charging points The newcomer quickly follows two i6S integrals to the Hertfordshire operator, both of which are fully PSVAR compliant.
Irizar described the i6S Efficient as its most advanced coach yet when it was launched in 2022. Golden Boy Coaches was the first UK operator to place an order for the model in integral format.
In that configuration, the product delivers a 900kg like-for-like weight reduction thanks to the use of high-strength steel and composites, while restyling has led to increased internal space and what dealership Irizar UK says is a “rebalancing” of the model.
The manufacturer adds that when those adjustments are combined with a reduction in drag, the i6S Efficient integral delivers a claimed 13% fuel consumption reduction. The example for Golden Boy includes rear-view cameras in place of conventional mirrors.
Power in the coach is from a DAF MX-11 engine developing 449bhp coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox.
