Roberts Travel has taken delivery of a battery-electric Yutong TCe12, supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach. It joins existing Yutong models in both diesel coach and battery-electric bus form with the Coalville operator.
Substantial infrastructure was installed to service the earlier Yutong buses with Roberts, and those vehicles have proven highly reliable. A TC9 diesel coach has also performed well, Pelican reports.
“Electrification was the next step in the coach journey for this size of vehicle, and Pelican Bus and Coach was happy to facilitate this move into zero-emission,” says UK Coach Sales Manager Simon Collins.
The new TCe12 has 50 seats in a half-leather, red and black scheme. It also has wood-effect flooring and is PSVAR compliant.
Charging options enable the 281kW/h batteries fitted to the electric coach to be replenished via either 20kW or 42kW units available from Pelican, or through the 120kW stationary models already on site with Roberts Travel.
In the latter case, a full charge can be accomplished in two hours, when residual power is considered. A range of at least 200 miles is claimed by the supplier.
