The Irizar i6 integral continues Sim’s Travel’s move towards DAF power

Sim’s Travel, of Eskdale, Cumbria, has taken delivery of its first i6 integral from Irizar UK (01909 500514).

The 12.2m, 51-seater has a DAF MX-11 engine rated at 370bhp driving through a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox and it will be used on corporate and tour work.

Says Partner Andrew Sim: “Half of our fleet is now DAF-powered, and we have been using the EcoLife transmission since 2007. In those 10 years, we’ve had very good performance from it.

“We find that the DAF engine is an excellent all-rounder combining reliability with good fuel consumption.

“But the outstanding aspect is the excellent support that we get from DAF, particularly our local dealer Solway DAF, which is maintaining the coach under contract.”
