Transport Focus Chief Executive, Anthony Smith, has announced his decision to step down from his position by the end of this year.
The independent watchdog group has been a prominent voice for transport users, advocating for their interests and ensuring that transport operators are held accountable.
According to Nigel Stevens, Chair of Transport Focus, Anthony has been a vital force in the organisation for almost 25 years with his “leadership and passion” helping the watchdog establish itself as a trusted advocate for transport users. He adds that, despite facing a period of great change, Anthony has helped position the organisation for success in the future.
In a statement, Anthony reflected on his time with Transport Focus, expressing pride in his contributions and highlighting the importance of making transport users’ voices heard.
Although he calls his decision to step down “very personal” he also notes that he believes the organisation needs fresh leadership to continue evolving and developing.
“I’m proud to have been part of the evolution and development of Transport Focus, working with the fantastic team here to make sure transport users’ voices are kept at the heart of decision making,” he adds.
