Arriva is to support Clatterbridge Cancer Charity as headline sponsor, donating £10,000 and helping during its biggest annual fund-raising event.
As well as the lump sum donation, the operator will provide water and treats for participants of the Glow Green Night Walk in Liverpool on 2 February.
The 8km walk passing some of the city’s best known landmarks, which was attended by more than 1,100 last year, raising £160,000, will mark World Cancer Day.
Last week, representatives from Arriva North West met with individuals from Clatterbridge Cancer Charity at Speke Depot to launch the collaboration.
Richard Hoare, Area Director for Arriva North West, says: “We’re really proud to be supporting this great cause and helping to raise awareness of the great work done by Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
“Our bus services cover Merseyside extensively and many of our customers and staff have been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly. If it’s important to them, then it’s important to us because the people we serve are our community.
“We always strive to do the right thing and make a difference so it’s a pleasure to be involved with Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, which helps people, including our valued customers and employees.”
Katrina Bury, CEO of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, adds: “We really appreciate the support given by Arriva, for both the charity, and our fundraisers on the night.
“We know from past events that the people of Merseyside will come out and support us because our charity is close to people’s hearts. We fund a range of projects at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, including innovations in patient care, life-saving research and hospital staff wellbeing.”
