Alexander Dennis has announced an order from Arriva of a further 164 buses of the Enviro200 and Enviro400 types for operations across England and Wales.
The 113 Enviro200 single-deckers and 51 Enviro400 double-deckers are expected to be delivered to 15 depots this summer and autumn.
It follows delivery of 57 similar low-emission buses to Arriva in recent months, which were officially launched in Wakefield on 13 March.
Of the single-deckers, 97 will be 11.8m-long and come with six-cylinder engines, while 11 10.8m-long and five 8.9m-long versions will each have four cylinders.
All will feature Alexander Dennis’s SmartPack efficiency technology, which is aimed at reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director of Arriva UK Bus, says: “We are delighted to confirm a further sizeable order with Alexander Dennis for buses locally built in our North of England heartland, supporting the local economy.
“The first are now entering service in our West Yorkshire operations, however the investment will see further new buses operating in every part of our UK operations. This builds upon a long-standing relationship with Alexander Dennis in delivering low-emission buses to provide high standards of service to our customers.”
Mark Ballam, National Account Manager for Alexander Dennis, adds: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Arriva UK Bus for the group’s continued investment in a cleaner, modern fleet with this record order for our low-emission buses.
“Our Enviro200 and Enviro400 are already well established at many Arriva depots across the country, allowing these new buses to be introduced seamlessly.
“With lightweight designs and our SmartPack technology to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, our Enviro200 and Enviro400 will deliver low operating costs for Arriva UK Bus, helping to underpin attractive bus networks across England and Wales.”
