The funeral of David Morris, the late founder and Managing Director of DRM Bus, will be held at 1100hrs on Monday 3 October at St Peter’s Church in Bromyard, HR7 4DZ.
Mr Morris died on 11 September at the age of 78. Tributes have since been paid from across the industry, recognising his contribution to the independent bus sector and bus services in rural areas.
Dress code for the funeral has been described as “as colourful as you wish” in consideration of Mr Morris’s own tastes. Attendees electing to wear dark clothing asked by his family to include a colourful tie or scarf.
In a notification of the funeral details, the Confederation of Passenger Transport has advised that a small church car park is nearby but is likely to be very busy for Mr Morris’s funeral. Following the ceremony, a wake will be held at the Falcon Hotel on 2 Broad Street, Bromyard.
A large contingent of industry colleagues from across the coach and bus fields are expected to pay their respects to Mr Morris, who would regularly welcome his peers to DRM’s premises in Herefordshire for his well-known hog roasts. He famously described himself as “just a little country lad” despite his influence within the bus sector.
