Edinburgh Bus Tours has overtaken the capital’s Zoo as Scotland’s second top paid-for visitor attraction.
Edinburgh Bus Tours attracted 604,846 visitors in 2016, an increase of 52,840 from 2015. Over 30,000 more people took an open top bus tour than visited the zoo.
It follows 2016’s £6.5m investment in a fleet of fully accessible open-top buses. The largest single investment the operations’ 27-year history.
The tours offer residents and visitors the chance to enjoy a different perspective on Edinburgh, providing panoramic views of the city from the top of a double-decker bus.
Edinburgh Bus Tours operates from Waverley Bridge seven days a week providing three different tour options. Each tour provides a unique perspective on some the capital’s main attractions, from Edinburgh castle and the Old Town to the Royal Yacht Britannia and Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Commenting on the new rank position, Nigel Serafini, Commercial Director, Lothian Buses says: “Improving our visitor ranking this year for our Edinburgh Bus Tour operation is a real testament to how much hard work has gone into making sure we deliver an outstanding customer experience.
“Discovering the sights of Edinburgh from the top deck of one of our open top buses creates amazing memories and I’d like to thank all of our talented team, who take great care to deliver outstanding customer service every day.”
