Geotab, a global leader in the internet of things (IoT) and connected transportation, has launched Project G, an intelligent assistant designed to unlock the power of generative artificial intelligence (AI) for fleet managers.

The beta project uses the power of natural language models to let customers gain real-time, data-driven insights into their fleet’s performance via a chat interface connected to Geotab Data Connector. Fleet managers can ask questions about their vehicles, and the intelligent assistant provides “comprehensive, digestible information”, helping users make informed decisions.

Some examples of the assistant’s capabilities include analysing fuel wasted due to idling, assessing the results of pilot projects focused on idling reduction, reviewing the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) within the fleet, and identifying vehicles with the poorest fuel economy. The chat-based interface simplifies the extraction of fleet data, making it easy for customers to identify trends and patterns, uncover areas for improvement, and gain operational efficiency recommendations based on real-world data.

According to Geotab, the launch of Project G represents a leap forward in connected transportation analytics. By harnessing the power of generative AI, fleet managers can proactively respond to operational challenges, optimise resource usage, and enhance fleet performance.

“We’ve long been recognised as leaders in data intelligence and AI, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning models for years,” says Mike Branch, Vice President of Data and Analytics at Geotab. “This breadth of experience presents us with a unique opportunity to analyse vast amounts of fleet data, identify patterns, and generate invaluable recommendations to optimise operational efficiency and performance.”

Project G is globally available and exclusively accessible to Geotab customers who subscribe to Geotab Data Connector. More information about the project, including how to join the waitlist, is available on Geotab’s website.

According to Geotab, ‘Project G’ is built on privacy-by-design principles. “All customer telematics data remains within Geotab’s environment, never shared with any Large Language Model,” the company says.
